Conservation Board Moves to Warn Alder Road Abutters
Conservation Commission · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Norton Conservation Commission plans warning letters after a resident dumps soil on town land near Alder Road. Conservation Agent John Thomas told the board he is drafting notices to all landowners abutting town conservation parcels after an owner imported fill and cleared vegetation to create what the owner called a "viewing vista," saying it's "just not a reasonable choice." The board scheduled its own site visit for 8:45 a.m. the Friday after next, capped at three members to avoid a quorum. Separately, the commission found an active erosion-control violation at 0 South Washington Street, more than 14 days past the federal permit deadline, and barred further work there until the area is stabilized.
The board voted 4-0 on four certificates of compliance, including full approvals for 6 Rumford Road and 13 Downing Drive, and continued hearings on pool and house projects at 9 Goff Road and 0 Burt Street to October 26.
