Somerset Planning Board Sets Hearing on Cabral Bond
Planning Board · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Somerset Planning Board sets hearing to seize developer's road bond over unfinished subdivision street. The board voted 3-0 to schedule an October 20 public hearing on taking Tim Cabral's $8,000 bond for Luther's Landing after he missed a September 1 deadline to pave Carissa Lane; the hearing is void if the road is finished first. Resident Luis De Jesus told the board he has "two legally blind children that need direct access to that road." Clerk Lloyd Mendes said the town only secured a valid letter of credit from Cabral on August 12 after years of lapses.
Separately, the board unanimously recommended a Meineke Car Care Center at 266 Slades Ferry Boulevard to the Zoning Board of Appeals, requiring landscaping, air conditioning and a snow-storage liner, while dropping proposed traffic and noise study conditions. The board also continued a Taco Bell stormwater permit at 721 GAR Highway to October 20.
