Disability Panel Tightens Rules on Donations
Other Committee · Meeting of September 28, 2026
Westport's Commission on Disability tightens donation reporting after an unlogged check surfaces. Chairman Brian Gallagher's panel discovered a $200 donation from member Dick Brewer had never been itemized or brought before the Select Board, prompting members to adopt a new protocol requiring every gift to the commission's $2,916.93 account be itemized by donor and approved by the board before deposit. Vice Chair Martin Costa led a review of the town's new committee handbook, warning against "reply-all" emails that could trigger improper "serial deliberations" under the open meeting law.
Members also finalized Harvest Festival volunteer shifts for the rescheduled October 2-4 weekend, unveiled a new 150-copy trifold brochure, and got updates on Sanford Road's five-foot ADA curb cuts and a pending $5,000 donation toward the Hicks Bridge landing.
