Westport Housing Authority Adopts Flat FY27 Budget
Other Committee · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Westport Housing Authority adopts a flat FY27 budget as federal cuts squeeze funding. Commissioners Tim Cain, Liz Collins, Pauline Brodeur and Paul Stein unanimously approved the budget after fiscal consultant Dan Robelard warned the state's funding cap came in at zero percent this year. Robelard cut $9,800 from an underused administrative line and $1,400 from materials and supplies to offset a roughly 3.5 percent mandated rise in maintenance labor costs, plus higher retirement and health insurance costs.
"Bad news, cap increase is zero," Robelard told the board. The authority's reserve ratio stood at 83 percent after one month of the fiscal year, well above Robelard's suggested 67.5 percent target. The board also approved a $30,314.99 warrant and voted to receive results of a new in-house resident satisfaction survey ahead of its October 21 meeting.
