Select Board ties traffic pay to police detail rate
Other Committee · Meeting of September 21, 2026
Freetown Select Board matches civilian traffic controller pay to the police detail rate. Selectmen voted unanimously to set the traffic controller rate at $72 an hour, scheduled to rise to $75 in fiscal year 2027, after the police chief noted "the town of Berkeley is at either $82 or $83 an hour" and Acushnet pays $90. The board also unanimously adopted the November 3 warrant, presented by Town Clerk Cheryl C.A.
Scherer, for an 18-inch ballot carrying nine Bristol-Plymouth school committee races and nine state questions. Members ratified the sale of a landlocked Chase Road parcel to Nicholas J. Velozo, continued a Wild and Bloom Beauty Company liquor license hearing to October 5, and approved Softball Association-funded field irrigation, "100% on the league." Resident Stephen Tripp told the board a nearby scrap "fluff" pile had roughly doubled in size in nine days and reaches an estimated 15 feet.
