Easton Board of Health Closes 305 Turnpike Case, Approves Two $45,000 Septic Loans
EASTON -- May 11, 2026, Easton Board of Health approves $90,000 in septic betterment loans and closes long-running 305 Turnpike Street housing case. The board unanimously approved $45,000 betterment loans for 10 Maple Street and 5 Kenneyland Street, both with failing cesspools, at its May 11 meeting; the Kenneyland Street approval is unusual because it covers a buyer set to close on the property two days later with the failed system in place, supported by letters from both the town and the buyer's mortgage lender. Chair Christopher Mills announced the board has closed its active case against 305 Turnpike Street after Health Director Kristen confirmed three hardwired electric heating units and functioning water have been installed and inspected, and the board voted to end its hybrid Zoom meeting format, which had been convened specifically for that matter. The board also flagged a potential rat displacement from Route 138 road-widening construction after a resident submitted Ring camera footage of rodents active day and night, with staff asking the Department of Public Works to press the state Department of Transportation for mitigation.
