North Attleborough Board of Health Grants Permits to Three Businesses in Unanimous Votes

Board of Health · Meeting of August 11, 2026

North Attleborough Board of Health unanimously approved permits for three businesses and heard that two town beaches closed and reopened within days after storm-driven E. coli readings hit 1,100 at Whiting's Pond. Health Director Ann Marie Fleming and board members Erie Baker and Dan McMahon, both remote, joined Chair Jay in granting a health establishment permit to Emily Anderson for Sequoia Strength Training at 560 Kelly Boulevard, a food service permit to Tyler Matrone and Jeremy Kikonis for Burrow Bagels at 540 Kelly Boulevard through December 31, 2027, and retail food and tobacco permits to Joel Murphy and Bob Patel for Cappy's Fine Wine and Spirits at 1212 South Washington Street through January 31, 2028. Fleming reported that rain-elevated E. coli readings of 1,100 and 300 forced closure of Whiting's Pond and Falls pond, but a retest two days later showed readings of 60 and 20, well below the 126 threshold, and both beaches reopened August 11.

A nicotine-free generation policy will appear on a future agenda after Sakshi of NA Smoke Shop told the board the ban would effectively put her out of business: "It's a very sucky thing, but end of the day, I feel like we are doing our job."
