Easton Panel Votes to Back Data Center Zoning Limits
Other Committee · Meeting of September 15, 2026
Easton environmental panel backs data center zoning limits ahead of a September 28 hearing. The Environmental Stewardship Committee voted 4-0, with one abstention, to approve its June minutes and unanimously set a third-Tuesday meeting schedule, but its main business was agreeing to send Easton's Planning Board a letter supporting restrictions on data center construction, citing Mansfield's town meeting vote this spring to ban most such facilities. New member Brett, chief of staff for the Old Colony Planning Council, said a data center "seems kind of antithetical to how Easton uses its land currently" given how much town acreage is conservation land.
Members also reviewed an unverified social media claim that New Pond was treated with PFAS chemicals, a pending state bill, S.306, restricting rodenticides that harm birds of prey, and a roughly $100 million statewide conservation ballot question this fall.
