Acushnet conservation board approves Angelo Drive HOA, septic repairs
Conservation · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Acushnet Conservation Commission finalizes Angelo Drive HOA amid wetland-filling complaint. The board, chaired by Acting Chairman Christian DeSousa, unanimously approved a homeowners association agreement for the Angelo Drive subdivision that resident Alex Machado had awaited since March, and issued a negative determination clearing homeowner Jack Vaz to repair a failing septic system at 39 Hathaway Road. New Leaf Energy representative Brandon Smith told the board the Morse's Lane Solar project's cleared footprint has shrunk from 32.6 to 22.5 acres, about a third less, after a revised wetland delineation.
The meeting's sharpest moment came from abutter Charlie Whippage of 17 Hunter Street, who said a neighbor dumped "400 to 600 yards" of fill into a stream, calling it an attempt "to delete all the wetlands from his property." Commissioners voted to keep that matter, and a separate PJ Keating Company enforcement file, open pending outside peer review.
