Conservation board approves five projects at one meeting

Conservation · Meeting of September 15, 2026

Westport Conservation Commission clears five building projects in one night. The board unanimously approved notices of intent for a pond-side home rebuild at 165 Plymouth Boulevard, a cottage-to-addition swap at 726 River Road, a garage addition on Main Road, and an in-ground pool on Macomber Lane, plus a certificate of compliance for Riley Holmes at 2 Wildberry Way and a three-year beach-lot extension for John Westerman on East Beach Road. Engineer Len Fader told the board there was "no place to put this thing to get 50 feet away from the well" on the Plymouth Boulevard lot, where a site visit also turned up an undocumented oil tank with a fuel odor, now under fire department review.

The commission could not vote on its September 1 minutes for lack of quorum, and the conservation agent warned of "a lot of discussion as time progresses" over beach materials being placed on East Beach Road lots. Members approved a $258 legal-ad bill before adjourning.
